This Is Our God

Everyone is seeking to be in the know. They want to know what is the latest news report, they want to know where the latest revival is breaking out, they want to know what other people are doing. The need to be in the know is palatable in every area of life. People love to be in the know. The challenge with being in the know about people or the news, is that every moment of the day there has to be new things to know. It is an unquenchable pursuit. But if that hunger to be in the know about others or about the news was switched over to being in the know about God, oh the satisfaction that would fill your soul, body, mind and heart.

I was praying this morning and when I opened to Psalm 99 the first line burst in my spirit like a dam breaking and water rushing onto a desert. Immediately everything inside of me burst forth with life. It was a surge of life, of energy of confidence, of faith, of power, of God. One verse in one Psalm saturated my need to know when it said, “The Eternal is the king ruling over all; let all people shake in fear. He sits on His throne, settled between winged guardians; let the planet tremble.” When these words crossed my eyes, I spoke them out of my mouth and immediately order was set in my heart for the day. Now no matter what I may hear, I have a plumbline truth already established.

“The Eternal is the king ruling over all; let all people shake in fear. He sits on His throne, settled between winged guardians; let the planet tremble.” With so many people wanting to be in charge, wanting to decide how things happens for the nations, wanting to be seen and heard; this truth puts it all in perspective. This truth that the Eternal is the king ruling over all is where peace lands, trust rests, and confidence comes from. Men and women will say and do all kinds of things, but our God is seated on a throne, settled between winged guardians. He’s not moving, He’s not changing; He’s not being voted in or out. This is the truth that does not move, does not change, this is our God!
