When the Lord will not change the subject, it is important that we don’t either. Understanding the subject comes from listening, learning and the leading of the Holy Spirit, but God is not just a talker, He wants action as well. That is why God said to the prophet Isaiah about the people of Israel, they have eyes but cannot see and ears but cannot hear. We read our bible, we hear the voice of God, but if we don’t do what it says, it was nice words, but there are no actions. In the New Testament the apostle James says the same thing, but he uses the analogy of looking at your face in the mirror then going away and forgetting what you look like. It is a whole Bible subject and we must become people who do what the word says.
Now with that said, the Lord is not changing the subject about Babylon and its fall that is fast approaching. It may have already started, but the when it falls it will shake all that can be shaken. So what is Babylon? Babylon is a mystery it says in Revelation 17. The mystery is multfaceted, it is a system of control and those who are the leaders of it, we do not know their names. It is an oppressor of people, the Assyrians and the Babylonians in scripture carry similar attributes to the mystery Babylon system. There is much to it, but it starts in Genesis 11 with a first mention and is spoken of through the whole Bible where it has its final mention in Revelation 18.
I was reading Jeremiah 51 the other day and at the end of the chapter it says, “So Jeremiah wrote in a single scroll all the calamity which would come upon Babylon, that is, all these words which have been written concerning Babylon. Then Jeremiah said to Seraiah, “And as soon as you finish reading this scroll, you will tie a stone to it and throw it into the middle of the Euphrates, and say, ‘Just so shall Babylon sink down and not rise again because of the calamity that I am going to bring upon her; and they will become exhausted.’” The Lord said to me, take Jeremiah 51, tie it to a stone and throw it in the Cumberland River in TN and make the decree as stated there. So I did, this morning. I am not one who “feels” things when I am obeying what God said to do, but I felt this one in my guts. God is done with the Babylonian system it is not going to rise again, per the words of Jeremiah. Bye Bye Babylon!
