The voice of God is like a waterfall of revelation and truth pouring out. We may be staying indoors due to weather conditions but the spirit of God is moving among us in all seasons of our nation. In prayer this morning, the Holy Spirit spoke so clearly, yet again, saying, “We need to have a sword in one hand and a hammer in the other. We need to know when to swing the sword and defeat our enemies and when we need to grab our hammers and rebuild the walls.” This was a nod to Nehemiah 4.
Nehemiah 4 speaks of some leaders in Samaria who are resistant to the Jews rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. Whenever someone is resistant to what you are building, they are gaining something off of the broken down walls and the breaches which are not repaired. It is hard to believe, but people profit off of other peoples brokenness and when builders come in their lives, the enemy makes it clear his disdain for the rebuilding of their lives.

The call of the Holy Spirit to us this morning is to be ambidextrous. He wants us to be as skilled in building with a hammer as we are with swinging a sword. He wants us to be equally productive spiritually as we are practically. We have many people who have one strong arm, either in building a business or family, but they are not strong spiritually. Then we have others who are strong spiritually and can build a ministry but they can’t serve someone practically. The Lord is wanting us to be ambidextrous so we can be skilled at both the sword and the hammer.
Nehemiah 4:17 says, “Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon.” This is our call in this hour. We must be able to do spiritual warfare and rebuild the walls around our nations, our families, our friends, and our communities. The days of only being able to do one or the other are over, we must become equally spiritual and practical if we are going to fulfill the mandate on our generation. Let’s go my friends, Jesus has equipped us for such a time as this.
