A Gospel of Power

The more you read the Bible the more you see the difference in the way the Hebrew people thought and the way Christians think; the way the rabbi’s and apostles taught and the way preachers today teach. One group created a culture in which it was said of them, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here too!” (Acts 17:6) Another culture says, “Come as you are, it is okay to be __; the word of God is antiquated, it does not apply to today.” What we hear determines who we are and the men and women in the word of God heard a gospel of salvation that empowered them to rule and reign on earth, to call heaven down when they needed help and to see signs, wonders and miracles of the likes we have never seen before. I don’t know about you, but I want that gospel, not the one I am hearing preached in so many places today.

Words are seeds and words seed atmospheres. Jesus said in Matthew 13:58, “ He did not do many mighty works there (Nazareth, Jesus’ hometown) because of their unbelief.” If you read the preceding verses you can hear how they viewed Jesus. They called Him just the carpenters son, just the son of this man and woman, just the brother of these people. Jesus even said in the same passages, “A prophet is without honor in His own hometown.” The people in that city treated Jesus so casually He could not display His authority and power there to help them, heal them, save them, because they could not see Him for who He was, the Messiah. Their words, seeded their atmosphere with unbelief, so they did not see many God things.

Friends, we are called to seed our atmosphere with words of faith that unlocks miracles. We are called to rule and reign, not be subject to every evil wind that blows. Proverbs 14:13 says, “The evil bow down before the good,
the wicked at the gates of the righteous.” We are not the ones bowing, evil is, we are not the ones on the run, the wicked are. It is time to speak out the truth about who we are, who God has called us to be, and who our God is. He is not on the run, He is not fleeing, He is still destroying the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). Rise up, stand up, get up. Our God is King of kings!!!!
