The sun has cracked the horizon and the darkness must give way to light. Once the sun begins to run its course there is no stopping its penetrating light. The Lord has pierced the darkness yet again and just like Israel of old we are seeing a great light.
Isaiah prophesied it long ago and Jesus fulfilled that prophecy, but what if the same prophecy of Isaiah is coming true again and Christ in us the hope of glory is breaking through. “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder.” (Isaiah 9:2-3)
The way to wake people up is not to berate them for what they don’t know or to scold them for not recognizing the truth. The way to wake them up is to gift them with generosity. This awakens them in a way only God can. Proverbs 25:21-22 “Is your enemy hungry? Buy him lunch. Win him over with your kindness. Your surprising generosity will awaken his conscience and God will reward you with favor.”
God is waking people up by being generous not by being angry or stingy. Our generous love, grace, mercy, compassion and truth will awaken hearts that have been sleeping. Our gentle answer will turn away their wrath and awaken their soul.
The Son has arisen with healing in His wings and the nations are seeing the breaking of a new day and the church must learn a new way. Everyday we are to speak life, release joy, and pour hope into hurting, hungry, angry, cold, bitter hearts. The generosity of God is awakening the hearts of humanity.
