There is no community without humility.

Doing life with other people means you have to live a laid down life. This pertains to marriage (Ephesians 5:21 – submit yourselves to one another); to friendship (Proverbs 17:17 – a friend loves at all times); families, churches, companies, nations, cities, anywhere there is people the call is to humility if we want to have community.

People that want to remain standing while others are laying down their lives reveal they do not know how to live in community. John 15:12-14 says, “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you.”

Jesus commands us to lay down our lives for one another. It is what love looks like. Wounded people struggle to lay down their life, because they are afraid of getting hurt again, so they remain standing while the call is to lay down our life.

If we want to look like Jesus, live in community like the disciples and do the works of the kingdom on earth as they are in heaven, we must live a laid down life. This is the only command Jesus gave us, love one another and love looks like a laid down life.

Jesus is our model of a laid down life. All He is commanding us to do is what He did. He called His betrayer friend, He died for the sins of the world, He fed people who only followed Him for food and He did miracles for people who others considered not deserving of them.

We were created for community, but to live in community it takes humility. To love and to be loved, we must lay down our lives for one another. Do you ever read a verse and wonder, what does that exactly mean? If we approach the word of God with wonder, seeking to know more, not thinking we know so much, we will find treasures that are not on the surface.

In the game Super Mario Bros, there are pipes you stand on and if you push down, some of them drop you into an unseen world of coins in which you just jump and grab coin after coin after coin. Not everyone knew those coins were in those pipes, but if you had a spirit of adventure, you pushed down and sometimes you dropped down into a place of delight.

This is what reading the Bible is like. If you push into verses just a little bit, they yield coins, gold coins of truth that bring great delight. Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened to you. Oh that we would be seekers, for in our seeking we are finding.

This morning I pushed on Proverbs 17:13 which says, “Evil will never leave the house of one who pays back evil for good.” I pushed on this verse by doing some rabbinical research to understand what exactly is this proverb teaching us. Oh friends, the push produced gold coins.

Evil in this verse is betrayal of covenant loyalty. It is moral treachery. It teaches that loyalty is optional, gratitude is weakness and trust is foolish. All of this was fascinating as I would not have thought of these things when I heard the word evil. But what blew me away is this verse is revealing a lack of gratitude for the good one has received.

Gratitude is a spiritual gatekeeper. Once it is violated, evil no longer meets resistance. Our gratitude is our gatekeeper that resists evil. Oh friends, may we never lose gratitude for where we live, who is in our lives, where we go to church, how much God has done for us. Gratitude is our gatekeeper that resists evil. Coins, gold coins! Sin has many affects and effects on our lives, but one of them we do not talk about much is that sin makes our lives small. Satan and sin are not only destroyers and deceivers, they are shrinkers of our lives. If the enemy can keep us small, he can control us, but when we take a deep breath of the spirit of God, expansion happens and our awakening begins.

The enemy wants to keep our eyes closed to truth, for when our eyes are opened we see a world of possibilities. The enemy wants to keep us small financially, for he knows our prosperity is more opportunity to be a blessing. The enemy wants to attack our body with sickness and disease, depression and trauma, loss and rejection for in doing so he keeps us little, unavailable and inoperable, knowing a healthy us will crush his head.

Friends, Psalm 18 says, “He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.”

God wants to deliver us from anger, resentment, bitterness, shame, guilt, immorality, adultery, homosexuality, greed, covetousness, pride, selfishness, isolation, anxiety, fear, alcohol, gambling, pornography as well every other thief and robber seeking to steal, kill and destroy us.

The Lord wants to deliver us from sin, corporately in the church and individually/personally, because all sin does is keep us small. The Lord wants to bring us out into wide open spaces which are holy places. Places of abudance, prosperity, excess. It is in the abundance that love is realized, demonstrated and displayed. One of the challenges parents face as it pertains to their children is listening. Children do not listen well or listen at all sometimes. Listening is a sign of maturity and children struggle to listen. They may hear what you say, but listening has more to do with hearing and obeying than just acknowledging something was said.

The children of God struggle with the same thing as natural children do. The children of God struggle to listen to God. They may sit in church and hear a sermon, they may watch a video, or hear a podcast, but to do what they heard is not something the children of God are known for.

People can be in church for decades and not change, because they are not listening with the intent of doing anything different. God is our Father, Jesus is our older brother and Savior, we are their children. The Holy Spirit is tasked to bring all things to our rememberance, so we can do what we have heard.

Mark 8:18 says, “Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?” Isaiah 55 says, “Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live.”

Friends we must get past spending money on what is not bread. We give so much money to things that do not satisfy, to places that do not produce bread (the word of God in truth). We need to stop laboring just to feel like we are doing something. We must repent of not being listeners.

God has work for us to do; finances for us to enjoy and sow; but it all starts with listening or we are going to be shadow boxing and that is exhausting. The invitation from the Lord is to come to Him, listen, and then you will live. You will produce more than before with less labor because you chose to listen and do what the Lord says to do. When I hear of financial numbers with so many zero’s behind them, sometimes I cannot comprehend it. I love hearing of the words billions, trillions and even millions, for it tells me my little financial challenge is nothing to God. For if nations can give that kind of money to one another, how can the Lord not give us the small number we are needing?

The news has been spouting off large numbers in the realm of national debt one minute and tariff revenues the next. Stock market numbers rise and fall like roller coasters at Six Flags. People who ride these number rides, love the highs and hate the lows. I find it all fascinating to watch from a distance with literally no skin in the game.

You see, we as believers in Jesus have been given access to abundance, but that access is not accessible in an earthy account, it is accessible through relationship. I had an open vision in 2013 while living with some friends in Missouri and in the vision I was shown a room with every form of currency on shelves, and I was told I have access to this room. We have access to all we need, but it comes through relationship with Yeshua.

When my, now husband, and I were dating, we sat on my patio on the fourteenth floor in my condo in Malaysia. While sitting there overlooking the city, he said to me, “Honey, if it is me and you and a bag of rice is that enough for you?” Without hesitation I said, “If it is me and you, that is enough for me!” Relationships are the most valuable asset on earth.

Proverbs 15:16-17 says, “Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil. Better a small serving of vegetables with love than a fattened calf with hatred.”

The kingdom of God is a relational culture, relationships are the most valuable asset on earth in this kingdom. God is a relational God, and it is still true that when we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, all these things we need, will be added to us. I woke up this morning at 3am but immediately fell back asleep, only to wake up and get up at 4:44am. During this 1 hour and 44 minute time frame, I had a dream.

In the dream, I saw a news set and Bryant Gumbel was standing on the set, professionally dressed and giving a news report. While I watched him, a wind blew in the set and it removed all his outer garments. He was now standing in front of the camera in black dress socks, boxer shorts and a white tank top under shirt. The camera was rolling as he stood there. End of dream.

I have had enough dreams to know this is not about the actual man Bryant Gumbel but about mainstream media, which he represents. What I sense the Lord is saying is His spirt (divine wind) is exposing (removing the polished look to reveal what is underneath) the truth of what is happening through the mainstream media and how they have controlled the narrative.

I know this is not some new revelation, but the fact that I had the dream this morning makes me wonder if it is happening in a public exposure way for the masses to see. I am not sure about all it means, but what I know is I had this dream and I do have prophetic dreams, so this feels prophetic, but not for the distant future, but for the very near future.

Luke 12:2-3 says, “There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.”

When I first was living in Malaysia, I was on a tourist visa, while I waited for my work visa to be processed. Being on a tourist visa meant every three months I had to leave the country and then come back in for another three month chop on my passport.

To some this would be an inconvenience, but for me it gave me the opportunity to see other countries in Southeast Asia. One of those countries I visited was Thailand. While in Thailand, I took a tuk tuk (Thai Taxi) to the night market. While there I found a t-shirt that said, Same Same But Different.

Being one who has been to many cities around the world, having met many people from many nations, I can say, people and cities are truly same same but different. We have many similiarities as humans, but we are also different. So this statement has stuck with me for years.

Reading Isaiah 52 this morning reminded me of this t-shirt I found in Thailand, because Israel was in Babylonian captivity, same same as Egyptian, but different in God’s way of deliverance.

“Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the articles of the LORD’s house. But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” (Isaiah 52:11-12).

As we walk with God, through various seasons of our soul and life on earth, there will be situations that look similar, or same same, but God has a different way of deliverance depending on the captivity we are in.

One of the subtle challenges we face as people is we like to follow patterns, especially if they are successful. But we serve a creative God, who operates in now time. I just heard in my spirit, “Stewarding poverty is not the same as stewarding abundance (blessing). This is why the spirit of poverty must be broken before abundance can be accessed.”

I asked the question, what is the difference?

The answer came immediately from the Lord, “Stewarding poverty is about protecting what little you have. Stewarding abundance is distributing what you have access to. The spirit of poverty wants to hold on to what you have, while the spirit of abundance wants to distribute what you have been given.”

Immediately after hearing this conversation in my spirit with the Lord, I heard Proverbs 11:24 “One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.”

The Lord has been showing me what He does for one, He wants to do for all. The challenge is, not all want to be free in order to access what is available. I know that sounds absurd, but it is true, not everyone wants to be free from a spirit of poverty.

To be free from a spirit of poverty is to trust and trust comes from knowing a person is trustworthy, not from being given an abundance of blessings. Abundance without a trusting relationship with the giver, will magnify the spirt of poverty, which does not want liberty, because it is afraid to trust.

Wanting the blessings of God without trusting who God is, will not liberate us, our liberty comes from trusting God and knowing who He is. We must know Him because access to abundance is to become a distributor of God’s abundance. Trust is the key to stewarding abudance and breaking off the spirit of poverty. The Bible is filled with names of God. He is Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals; Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides; Yahweh, the Almighty God; Rose of Sharon; Savior; El Shaddai; Redeemer; The Branch; El Roi, the God who sees me; oh the many and varied names of God.

Every name is a statement about His nature. When God would do something, people would give God a name, Deliverer; Exalted One; Mighty; it was a description of what He did and how He acted on their behalf in any given situation.

It is no wonder in Isaiah 6 we hear the angels falling down, crying holy, holy, holy, which means many things one of which is set apart, set apart, set apart. There is truly no one like our God. He is Victor; Commander; Father; Yeshua the Messiah.

Isaiah 48:6-8 says, “I knew how stubborn you were; your neck muscles were iron, your forehead was bronze. Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, ‘My images brought them about; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.’ You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them?”

While reading this I heard in my spirit the words, “Relentless Pursuer”. I knew this was a name of God being given to me to speak out. Israel, like us wander from who we know to be the Truth. Yet, no matter where we wander, what we do, how steeped in sin we may be, the Lord is a Relentless Pursuer of people.

People tend to stay away from God and others when they are ashamed, embarrassed, guilty of an offense, wounded, hurting, tired, just to name a few reasons, but the Lord is a relentless pursuer of people. He never stops pursuing us and I believe we are never to stop pursuing people either.

The world calls it co-dependency, but the kingdom calls it relentless pursuit, for our God never gives up on us and we should never give up on each other. Relentless pursuer is a name of God. Www.apostolicresourcecenter.org

Growing up in Minnesota taught me many things about storms. Thunder would clap loud and our heart would pound, lightning would strike with flashes that lit up the sky. We were taught to never be afraid, but rather to see the lightning then count to ten, for in those moments, thunder would come, so we were ready for it. Then we were told to hear thunder like a bowling ball going down the alley.

Oh the joys of growing up in Minnesota with a mom that was pretty much fearless. I remember her telling us, as we headed out on a two week driving vacation in our 1975 Dodge conversion van; she said, you have nothing to fear unless I am afraid.

We went through cities with rain falling hard and frogs on the highway, but no fear from her. We rode in the cab of an 18-wheeler into Hoover Dam, because we convoyed and ate a meal with this trucker on our trip and over the CB radio he asked if us kids wanted to see the Dam through his view in the cab. No fear.

I remember being in Yellowstone and a bear was at our campsite, all she said was, he is looking for food, not people, but don’t go out to use the bathroom right now, wait for the bear to leave. No fear. Oh the fun we had, the lessons I learned and little did I know, she instilled in us a nothing to fear mentality.

God is never afraid, and He is our Father, so when He says, Fear Not, we have nothing to fear. If we believed God, even when a national or international storm comes, we will not fear for we would know, “When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.” (Proverbs 10:25)

Friends, our God is stable, strong, and fearless. He is our Father, Friend, Savior, and God. If He is not afraid, we don’t need to be either. Storms come with lightning and thunder, with crashes and eruptions, but fear not, it is just the sound of the removal of wickedness from our land, so the kingdom can be established on earth as it is in heaven.
