Preach The Light

What you see is what you say, it is called a testimony. You cannot testify to what you have not seen, or at least you can’t testify with authority. You can echo what others have seen, but it is like second hand smoke, it does not carry the same authority.

What we see we say. What we hear we repeat. When I was a youth pastor my students could not believe how much I knew about them or understood about where they were coming from. They were amazed many times as I actually listened when they spoke so heard what was going on in their heart.

We as people speak what we are hearing, thinking, questioning, believing, wondering, pondering. Our mouths cannot help but share what is on our hearts. If you read through Facebook, listen to YouTube videos, listen to the news, pay attention to your spouse when they speak, listen to friends at church, you can know where someone is and what they are thinking. Listening is powerful.

To be a great communicator, you need to be a prolific listener. Most people don’t listen well that is why so many people can say things that are not biblical and we believe them, echo them, like, share and subscribe to them, without really listening to them. If you listen you will hear.

John was an eye and ear witness to Jesus Christ on earth. If we listen to what he says, we will hear who Jesus was and when we know who Jesus is, we can hear who is speaking for God and who is echoing the news.

Listen to what John says, “This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” (1 John 1)

Why are we so afraid of the dark, so curious about what people do in the dark, so eager to share the latest dark news, when God is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all? We speak what we see, we echo what we hear. Can you see the light that is God? Www.apostolicresourcecenter.org
