Sharp Swords

PRAYER KEEPS YOUR SWORD SHARP! I was awakened this morning with these words reverberating in my spirit. Now we know according to Ephesians 6 our battle is not against flesh and blood, so the sword is not physical, it is a spiritual sword. It is as Paul describes the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.

Prayer keeps our swords sharp because we are told to pray without ceasing. Not because we are in a never ending war, but because it keeps us alert, so we are not caught off guard.

I remember when my son, who was very much into the Marvel movies when he was younger, wanted me to join him and his best friend to go and see the Marvel movie called Infinity War. I had been to other Marvel movies with him, so I said sure, I would love to join you two. I sat in that movie theatre for two hours and watched a battle from start to finish.

When we walked out of that movie theatre, with no closure on the battle, I was so irritated. I told my son and his friend, that was the dumbest movie I have ever seen. I continued by saying, what was the point of this movie? I mean I was so annoyed by the waste of two hours of my time.

The two of them looked at me and my son said, “Mom, the movie is called Infinity War.” Like I was supposed to know that it would be a war that did not end. We laugh about it today, but it was not funny at the time. I was irritated, because fighting for infinity is not what we are called to do. We fight to win, not for the sake of fighting. There must be an end.

I have met people who are always in a battle, it is an infinity war in the spirit they are fighting, and it is not supposed to be this way. Prayer keeps our swords sharp, so we can win, not just fight. Jesus paid the price for our victory over the battle. Prayer keeps your sword sharp so you can win battles not live with infinity wars.
