Good Bye Egypt

Have you ever thought about who we are as people? Have you ever noticed we pray for deliverance and then when it comes we don’t believe it? Have you ever asked yourself why you are so suspicious of the deliverer God is using to rescue you? The irony of it all is that we are exactly like Israel of old.

Exodus 3 says, “Then the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey.”

Israel prayed from Egypt to be delivered from their oppressors, God comes down in a burning bush, speaks to Moses to become their deliverer for God and the people don’t want Moses to deliver them. But thanks be to God, that Moses didn’t care if the people wanted him to deliver them, God wanted Moses to deliver them and so they were going to be delivered from their taskmasters.

Exodus 3 says it this way, “And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me (Yahweh), and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come, I will send you (Moses) to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

Thank God He hears our cry, answers our prayer and doesn’t let us ruin the deliverance we prayed for because we don’t recognize the day of our visitation. Friends, I love you, but we are being delivered from an enemy we have prayed to be delivered from and honestly it doesn’t matter if you like who God chose to deliver us or not. We are being delivered because God has heard our prayers and I am thankful. Bye bye Egypt!
