As I was reading Jeremiah 7:22-24 moments ago, I immediately saw a vision of a man standing next to a huge burn pile. I knew based on the verses in Jeremiah the pile was all his works he did that he was never told to do. As I looked at the man’s face he was perplexed. Then I saw the pile begin to burn until all that was left was ashes on the ground. The man was still standing there, he hadn’t moved. I then heard the Lord say “whatever I didn’t command to be done is going to become ashes”.
Jeremiah 7:22-24 “For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices. But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.’ Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward.”
1 Corinthians 3:12-15 “Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.”
