The season is changing, the season is changing, not according to the cycle of earth with winter, spring, summer and fall; or from wet season to dry season, no this change of season is spiritual, it is biblical not natural. The season is changing and for many of us we are long overdue in our minds for a change of season.
For the past twenty years we have been living in the “shut the door” season. Many have felt it but did not know what it was. It felt like rejection, but little did we know it was protection. Doors that should have opened shut suddenly. Opportunities that should have produced failed without reason. Relationships that looked so promising took a turn we did not expect. It was a shut the door season.
The shut the door season is strategic in the kingdom of God, for it produces things in ways we do not always understand. In a generation of everyone wanting to be seen and heard, a shut the door season can feel like we are being left behind, but actually in the kingdom of God the shut the door season is a divine set up.
In Genesis 7:16, God shut the door on Noah and all those in the ark; 2 Kings 4 tells us a widow gathered jars per the command of Elisha the prophet and she shut the door behind her; In the same chapter a prominent woman of Shunem was given a son, through a prophetic word uttered by Elisha, then he died and she put him in the upper chamber and shut the door behind him; Matthew 25 tells us of five virgins who had enough oil, so when the bridegroom arrived, they went in with Him and then He shut the door behind Him; In Acts 1-2 we read of a group of people who went into an upper room and shut the door behind them; Acts 16 tells us of Paul and Silas who were thrown in prison and the door was shut behind them. Shut the door seasons.
I don’t know what door has shut behind you or what door has stayed shut in front of you, but what I do know is we have been in a shut the door season. Whether God shut the door or man shut the door, it matters not, we have been in a shut the door season. But for what purpose, God put us in a shut the door season to deliver us from a corrupt generation; provide for us financially; release resurrection power; allow us to feast at the table with Him; be baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire; and for the sake of the salvation of others. Every person in scripture that was in a shut the door season was blessed by the season.
We have been living in a shut the door season, even today many churches have been told to shut their doors because of this virus. But I am here to declare to you today, our shut the door season is coming to end and our open-door season is about to begin. Isaiah 22:22 says, “The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; So, he shall open, and no one shall shut; And he shall shut, and no one shall open.” When God shuts the door, no one can open it and when God opens the door no one can shut it. We are at the end of the shut the door season, now the deliverance, the provision, the resurrection, the feasting, the fire and the salvation we experienced behind that shut door is about to be seen as God places us in the open-door season!
