In a world that has gone from rotary to cellular; from swords and shields to drones and EMP’s; from wagon trains to airplanes; we have seen a lot of changes in one generation. If we sat with some of the silver haired saints, we would realize how much has changed in just one generation. In a word we can say we have experienced acceleration in this generation.

Acceleration looks like advancement; it can feel like we are so smart; it can cause us to think more highly of ourselves than we ought. This is why we need to be people who love the Word of God. The Bible keeps us in perspective; reveals the nature and character of God; and unlocks us for even greater things than science and technology can offer us.

I was reading Psalm 113 this morning and I could not get past verses 4-6, “The LORD is high above all nations; His glory is above the heavens. Who is like the LORD our God, Who is enthroned on high, Who humbles Himself to behold The things that are in heaven and in the earth?”

I was thinking we cannot even explain the heavens we can see, how do we think we understand the heavens we cannot see? We hear news about nations and think we know what is happening in nations, but the Lord is high above all nations.

I was thinking about all the people on earth and how he hears the first cry of every child born and is watching the last breath someone is taking. All over the world. He misses nothing. And then to add that He humbles Himself to listen to me when I speak. I am undone.

Our God is humble, generous, gracious and God all in one. If He is willing to heal us, deliver us, redeem us, restore us, speak to us, make promises to us, how can we not humble ourselves and obey Him? He is God, we are His people; He is in charge and He is good. We are truly blessed and if we could realize this, we would humble ourselves and do whatever He asks of us.
