Everyday I pray a Psalm a day and today, Election Day in the USA, the Psalm I was on is Psalm 139. My whole life I’ve only read this Psalm as personal to an individual, but this morning I prayed it for our nation and the revelation was overwhelming. God loves this nation so much! Read this Psalm as though it’s speaking about America on Election Day, I think you will hear how God formed this nation and it will fulfill its destination.
Psalm 139
—————
O LORD, You have searched America and known her.
You know when she sits down and when she rises up;
You understand her thoughts from afar.
You scrutinize her path and her lying down,
And are intimately acquainted with all her ways.
Even before there is a word on her tongue,
Behold, O LORD, You know it all.
You have enclosed her behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon her.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is too high, she cannot attain to it.
Where can she go from Your Spirit?
Or where can she flee from Your presence?
If she ascend to heaven, You are there;
If she makes her bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.
If she take the wings of the dawn,
If she dwells in the remotest part of the sea,
Even there Your hand will lead her,
And Your right hand will lay hold of her.
If she says, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,
And the light around me will be night,”
Even the darkness is not dark to You,
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You.
For You formed her inward parts;
You wove her in her mother’s womb.
She will give thanks to You, for she is fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And her soul knows it very well.
Her frame was not hidden from You,
When she was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes have seen her unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for her,
When as yet there was not one of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to her, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If she should count them, they would outnumber the sand.
When she awakes, she is still with You.
O that You would slay the wicked, O God;
Depart from her, therefore, men of bloodshed.
For they speak against You wickedly,
And Your enemies take Your name in vain.
Does not she hate those who hate You, O LORD?
And does she not loathe those who rise up against You?
She hates them with the utmost hatred;
They have become her enemies.
Search America, O God, and know her heart;
Try her and know her anxious thoughts;
And see if there be any hurtful way in her,
And lead her in the everlasting way.
