People that work hard, are disciplined, in their job, ministry or marriage, but do not see the fruits of their labor find themselves in a place where hope becomes deferred and eventually their heart gets sick. The reason for this heart sickness is because we were made to produce and our production should produce results. Results become the encouragement to keep producing. But if you work hard, work consistently, work steadily, and there are no results in the time frame you expected them to come it causes the heart to become sick. And the enemy loves a sick heart, because one he can taunt you and tell you God doesn’t hear you, appreciate all you do, or doesn’t care about you; and two he uses your heart sickness to make you apathetic when nudged to try something again.
Think about it for a minute, you want to have a baby, but you are barren, the zeal to try and produce wains over time; you pray for a loved one and still you see no visible change in them; you work for a job that feels like you have hit a glass ceiling and there is no room for growth despite how hard you have worked; or you are single and you workout, dress nice, have a great attitude and yet no potential mate is arising. It’s hard to keep working when you don’t see results. Then when the heart grows sick, you stop obeying, stop trying, you stop. Stopping is evidence of a sick heart. Listen to what Proverbs 13:11-13 says, “Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. People who despise advice are asking for trouble; those who respect a command will succeed.”
The key to getting out of a sick heart, the key to breaking hope deferred is not to stop, it is to persevere. Keep going, keep praying, keep prophesying, keep working, keep pursuing what your heart is desiring. Don’t stop, for in the doing, a new command is going to come from the Lord and if you obey it, it is going to change everything. The command is going to come when you have lost hope. It happened to Peter. Look at what Luke 5:4-6 says “When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets.” When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break;”
Peter’s heart had given up on catching anything, tie to this Proverbs 13, he worked hard, but no results, until he obeyed the command of Jesus then the results were undeniable. I don’t know what command Jesus is going to give that brings the results, but I will tell you this, I would keep obeying all He says, because one of them is going to break your nets. Don’t quit, keep obeying, keep working, keep praying. There is a net breaking command coming. #Host90
