Invited Guests Only

I was invited to a birthday party last Wednesday for Gabrielle, who is running for Mayor of Franklin, TN. I had never been invited to a birthday party like this before, so I was wondering what this experience would be like. Would it be a political rally and fund raiser? I had no frame of reference for this event, so I was wide open to learn as much as I could, for this was a first for me. We were instructed to park in a certain parking lot and from there we would get on a shuttle and taken to the location of the party. This was the extent of what I knew.

I get to the parking lot, see birthday balloons and a shuttle bus, so I proceed over to the location of these markers, and the first thing we were told to do was say our name so they could confirm we were on the guest list and then we received a name tag for identification purposes. We got on the bus, and when we arrived at the location of the party, there were more security measures, similar to the ones we went through before we got on the bus. What is your name, are you on the guest list. What I didn’t know is that because of Gabrielle’s strong stance for righteousness, she has had death threats made against her, henceforth, the security was for her safety.

I share that because we can read the Bible, where it says if you are not on the guest list you cannot come in and not realize it is for the safety of those who have been invited. The kingdom of God is a safe place and those who are not on the guest list will not be allowed in. It is not punishment, it is because the Father has to protect His children and some people who practice some things are not safe, so are not allowed in. Here is how Revelation 21 puts it, “In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

Just like I did not understand why the “security” measures for Gabrielle’s birthday party, until today, I did not see the why behind the what that was spoken in Revelation 21. Now I see it, the Father is making sure people who come into the kingdom are safe and therefore, He cannot let in those who engage in unsafe behaviors because they will make the other citizens feel unsafe. God is so loving, so practical and so clear about His expectations for kingdom citizenship.

Do We Understand What Jesus Said?

Julie Green is a voice that speaks what she calls “prophetic words” daily about happenings that she says are coming to our nation. This morning, her YouTube video popped up on my page and it read “A Trap Is Set”. This statement caught my attention because I was praying Psalm 35 this morning and I was praying these words with the psalmist, “Let their way be dark and slippery, With the angel of the LORD pursuing them. For without cause they hid their net for me; Without cause they dug a pit for my soul. Let destruction come upon him unawares, And let the net which he hid catch himself; Into that very destruction let him fall.” I was praying these words for our nation, that whatever traps may be set against us would be the very traps those who set them fall into.

After praying, then seeing what Julie had as her title for the day, I began to realize, most Christians do not pray with this type of language, because we have misunderstood the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:43-44 “You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” The church has been told to love their enemies, therefore, to declare our enemies fall into their own trap seems unloving to many believers, so the enemy runs rampant in our nation and we wonder why. Church we are the gatekeepers of this nation! Our misunderstanding of Jesus’ words has allowed the enemy right in the front door of our nation.

Jesus sat at a table and had a final Passover meal with His disciples, where He called out His enemy, Judas. in front of everyone. Was that loving? Yes it was, why? Because 1 Corinthians 13 says, love always protects. Jesus’ love protected Judas from the fate about to befall him and it protected His other disciples from falling for the same trap. Jesus said love your enemies because He knew we cannot have both love and hate inside of us without hate corrupting our love for people. If we have any mixture in us, we cannot reign and rule with Him as sons, for we may, like the sons of thunder, want to call fire down one minute and lean on his chest the next. We must have pure love, but that does not mean we don’t know who the enemy is and call him out as such. And we definitely don’t let the enemy in the front door of our house, church or nation.

Put Your Foot In The Door

I just saw something in the spirit that I believe we need to all see. I was praying Psalm 34:1 that says, “I will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” I felt the presence of God all over this passage and it brought me to repentance as at times I have questioned God’s plan for my life, I have complained about how long things have taken to come to pass that He has promised, and when I have been angry with Him because I did not get my way. I confessed these things and the weight of His presence sat on me as I thought of others who have said, why does God allow this or why does God not do that? We are so quick to blame God and David was so quick to bless and praise God. Oh that we would be a people that bless the Lord at ALL times and that have His praise CONTINUALLY in our mouths.

Once I finished repenting I began praising the Lord, blessing the Lord and thanking the Lord for many things. It was during this praise time in which I was thanking God for revealing to me something He has for me, when I had a vision, I believe is for all of us. Once we see what God has for us, we need to put our foot in the door and not let it shut, even though someone may not give it to us as quickly as they said they would. If God revealed this is what He has for us, we need to put our foot in the door, so it can’t shut on that promise that He revealed is for us. What I sensed is we have had doors close because we did not put our foot in the door until it opened wide enough for us to enter into it.

God does not dangle carrots in front us to get us to follow Him and then say, just kidding. He shows us what He has for us, because He prepared it for us, but the enemy does not give up stuff easily or quickly, so somethings you see need you to put your foot in the door so it cannot be shut. My God today, I see it is so clearly. It is like we get a sneak peak, but we are so passive, we don’t apprehend what is ours by putting our foot in the door until the enemy backs off and we get what God has for us. I got my foot in the door on some promises and if no one else understands why I am still standing there with my foot in the door, its okay. I know what God has for me, I am not moving until I get what He has shown me. Jacob said, I will not let you go until you bless me. Jacob put his foot in the door. I have my foot in some doors. What about you? If the door opened for you to see, put your foot in the door until God opens that door wide enough for you to enter in and occupy what He has shown you.

What If?

The desire to be in the know is palatable in the world. It is as though information has become our new fig leaves to cover our nakedness/the vulnerability we feel. If you listen to people talk you know what they are listening to, watching or reading. When Christians know more about politics, the news, or the enemies tactics than they do about God, it is no wonder they espouse fear based theology. We do not get our knowledge about the world, world events and what is happening in the world from watching the news, we get our perspective on these issues as believers by reading our Bible.

The intimate knowledge about the news has thwarted people’s intimate understanding about who God is. Yes He is all knowing, all wise and all powerful; Yes He could with one word change everything as we know it today in an instant; Yes, yes, and yes again, however, what if He had another desire, another way, another plan that we are not privy to, because we do not know Him? What if He actually meant what He said when He called us ministers of reconciliation, ambassadors of His kingdom (2 Corinthians 5:20)? What if, He wanted us to know Him so we could rule and reign with HIm on earth in righteousness, peace and joy (Romans 14:17)? What if He wants us to partner with Him for redemption of the nation, not the destruction of it, so is trying to train our mouth to speak what He is saying, not to echo what the media is telling us?

Psalm 33:8-11 says, “Let all people stand in awe of the Eternal; let every man, woman, and child live in wonder of Him. For He spoke, and all things came into being. A single command from His lips, and all creation obeyed and stood its ground. The Eternal cripples the schemes of the other nations; He impedes the plans of rival peoples. The Eternal’s purposes will last to the end of time; the thoughts of His heart will awaken and stir all generations.” Church things are not getting worst, His plans are awakening nations for all generations. Look again, not at the news, but at Him. Read again, not people’s opinions, but the Truth in God’s word. Stand in awe and wonder at the great work He is doing in our day, it is historic on so many levels.

Just The Messenger

Last night a group of us attended RISE USA with Johnny and Elizabeth Enlow at the Factory in downtown Franklin, TN. While there, a man got up and gave a prophetic word saying, “the Lord has given me 4 numbers, the numbers are 5668, do those numbers mean anything to anyone?” No one responded, so he elaborated and said, “I believe it is a license plate, actually a yellow, TN, don’t tread on me, license plate.” No response from the crowd. So he says, “well if you realize this is your license plate, the Lord is saying, Isaiah 56:6-8 is for you.” He sits down and the meeting continues without any other mention of this situation.

Now it is Sunday morning and I am walking Hunter, on our usual route through the apartment complex across the street from our neighborhood and I see the numbers 5668 on a yellow TN, don’t tread on me, license plate. I look up to heaven and smile, keep walking and think, you can’t make this stuff up. I get home, and know I have to write this owner of this license plate a message and tell them what the Lord is saying. As I am writing it out, I am thinking this feels crazy to write and say, how will they respond. The Lord speaks to me, “this is between them and I, just tell them what happened last night and give them the verses. It is my words to them, they will understand.” I do as I am told, I finish writing the note with the verses in it, grab my camera, go back to the car, put the note on it, take a picture of the license plate and come home. You can’t make this stuff up.

The license plate frame and fish on the back of the car, reveals the owner is a Christian, obviously. God is so creative, He loves to speak to His children, and I am honored to deliver His message for Him. Now I am going to go to where Johnny Enlow is speaking this afternoon, so I can share this information with him to encourage the man who spoke the word, so specifically and accurately. Everyone’s faith is encouraged in a situation like this, I know mine was. What a great Sunday morning surprise. Shabbat Shalom my friends.

Two Mountains

Two mountains represent two covenants. One is Mount Sinai which represents the old covenant; the other other is Mount Zion and represents the new covenant. Everyone who claims to be a believer in Jesus Christ says they are new covenant believers, however, many believers are listening to prophets, preachers and media that is speaking from the old covenant, Mount Sinai message. Hebrews 12 describes Mount Sinai like this, “For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them. For they could not bear the command, “IF EVEN A BEAST TOUCHES THE MOUNTAIN, IT WILL BE STONED.” And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “I AM FULL OF FEAR and trembling.” This is the message of Mount Sinai, fear and judgment. Many are preaching, prophesying and discussing Mount Sinai, but we have not come to that mountain in we are in Christ.

If we are in Christ, we are not in sin. Those who are in sin, but want a message that says their sin is acceptable to God are what Hebrews 12 calls illegitimate children (Hebrews 12:8) and not sons. Our sins, no matter who we justify it, brings consequences, for the wages of sin is death. Death to relationships, prosperity, health, intimacy with God, many consequences. Consequences for sin is not judgement, it is the result of choices made to live in sin, whatever that sin may be. Therefore, when people preach or prophecy judgment on a nation, they are prophesying from Mount Sinai, the old covenant. The demarcation is obvious as to who is preaching or prophesying from Mount Sinai and who is speaking from Mount Zion.

Hebrews 12 continues by saying, “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.” This is the new covenant we are called to preach, prophesy and project to believers of the new covenant. Legitimate sons of God, who are living in the truth, who are abiding in Christ, who are walking in intimacy with God will prophesy from this mountain and preach this mountains message.

It is easy to discern which mountain people are prophesying from, preaching from and proclaiming news about. Many amplified voices needs to be corrected, so we will see discipline coming from the Lord for their good, because the Father loves them, but they are not preaching from the right mountain, so their message is fear based, rather than filled with good news. You can speak the truth that leads to repentance without having a spirit of fear attached to it. God corrects us up, He wants us to live and not die and see the glory of the Lord in the land of the living and His discipline is not to hurt us, but to heal us, to help us, but we must turn from sin, listen to truth and be set free, so we can dwell in Mount Zion and proclaim the good news of this mountain. We can be transformed from illigetimate children to sons of God, but we must be willing to do all the Father says. I live in Mount Zion.
