We are not called to relive the past, but we are invited to excavate the pattern. There are patterns in the way God moves. If you study revival history you will see patterns of prayer, fasting, repentance, and genuine response to the presence of God. Did every revival look the exact same, no, but is there a distinguishable pattern, yes there is.
We call them blueprints, which is another way of saying a pattern. Blueprints/patterns are to be excavated from history in order to understand the mystery that was being revealed through the pattern.
Israel is God’s pattern nation. How God works with Israel will be a pattern for how God works with nations. If we can see the pattern, we will be able to better understand the day in which we live.
While reading Jeremiah 31 this morning, the Lord excavated a pattern of restoration for the nation of Israel and I see it as a pattern for the restoration of nations we are seeing today. I discovered 15 key aspects to this pattern, but I am going to only highlight a few, if you read the chapter yourself, I think you will see the pattern God is laying out for nations.
I call it the pattern of restoration and it begins with Jeremiah 31:2 where it says, “The people (Israel) who survived the sword, found grace in the wilderness.” Can you see how your nation has survived the sword and found grace in the wilderness? It’s a biblical pattern of restoration.
The pattern continues in verses 3-4 saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you; I will build you; I will adorn you with tamborines.” Restoration is a continual rebuilding process and it is good news. Verse 13-14 continues, “I will turn their mourning to joy; I will satiate the priests with abundance and My people will be satisfied with My goodness.”
We as the nations are in a pattern of restoration. For those with the wrong eschatology, this pattern is only temporary, so they remind you, don’t get too excited, but for those who know their God, who understand the kingdom that knows no end, this is really good news, for the cycle of destruction is ending and the cycle of building is upon us. It is the pattern of restoration and we are in it right now. Www.apostolicresourcecenter.org
