Swiftly

Quick question for you this morning? What is the pace of your race? When it comes to directives handed down from superiors in your company what are you willing to sacrifice to get done what they have sent as a directive? When it comes to your pastor asking you to do something, how quickly do you respond to their request? Children, your children, when you ask them to do something, how aptly do they reply to you?

What we respond to immediately reveals the value the one who made the request has in our life. Obedience to a command, a request, a directive reveals value. I was listening to someone on the phone the other day and they were sharing about how they are up late into the night accomplishing tasks for their company, sacrificing sleep for the demands of the organization. This revealed what they value.

Another person said to me, the Lord told them to do something and they still had not done it. They know what the Lord said to do, but they just had not gotten around to doing it yet. They were planning on doing it, it just hadn’t happened yet. This revealed value.

Psalm 147 says, “He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.” The pace of God’s word is much faster than the pace of many people’s obedience to His word. When our pace of obedience does not align with His pace of command, we miss out on many blessings. I do not think we realize how many of our challenges are consequences of disobedience or delayed obedience not the devil.

When God speaks He does not give you a date it needs to be done by, but when He speaks, we show Him value in the when we do what He says. We want God to answer our prayers quickly, but we do not want to obey His commands just as fast.

We miss out on wisdom, timing, grace, peace, and even opportunities when we do not obey the word/voice of God quickly. Have you ever asked yourself why you delay to obey? An honest answer to this question may yield repentance that restores relationship. Www.apostolicresourcecenter.org
