It’s A New Thing

Sometimes I wonder if our brain is looking for certain things and therefore we find them everywhere. Like when you find a car you like, all of the sudden you start seeing that car all the time, whereas before you did not see it, even though it was always there.

The Lord has been speaking to me for two solid weeks, one phrase, BEHOLD, I AM DOING A NEW THING, FORGET THE PAST, SEE I AM DOING A NEW THING.” Over and over again I hear it in my spirit and now everywhere I am this phrase is finding me.

The phrase comes from Isaiah 43:18-19, “Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it?”

This is such good news, but why does it make me nervous as though it will not come to pass? Have we gotten our hopes us and been disappointed so much that we no longer get excited about a word like this?

I see the signs of restoration, recompense and reconciliation all over the place. Friends are getting jobs; marriages are being restored; checks are coming in the mail. I get calls, messages daily with good news like this. I am seeing it myself as well, but something still stutter steps as though I fear another false start.

But the Lord is relentless, I AM DOING A NEW THING! Over and over again, I can’t stop hearing it, I can’t stop seeing it. You see I think in the past I have set the timeline, I have decided when it was going to happen, so I was disappointed because of what I said, not what God said.

So, now, though I am treading gently, I am walking gingerly, I am hearing and seeing something I cannot deny, He is doing a New Thing, It is springing up, I can see it, I can hear it. This is not my doing, my idea, my timeline, this is what the Lord Himself is doing. So, ready or not, here comes the New Thing. Can you see it, can you hear it, can you feel it?
