When hearing the voice of God it is important to understand if its a command to obey, a counsel to discuss, a conversation to enjoy or a correction to confess. Once we learn what God is saying, it makes responding accurately possible. For example, If we respond to a correction as though it’s just a conversation we will not confess (1 John 1:9) and repent so we can be healed. Or if we think a command from God is optional for us we miss the blessing obedience brings (Deuteronomy 28). A correct response comes from an accurate assessment of what God is saying. It is critical that we respond appropriately to what God is speaking.
