Where Do You Dwell?

There are two mountains that the church dwells on. Some of the church dwells on, eats from and speaks from Mount Sinai. Hebrews 12 says this about Mount Sinai, “For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them. For they could not bear the command, “IF EVEN A BEAST TOUCHES THE MOUNTAIN, IT WILL BE STONED.” And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “I AM FULL OF FEAR and trembling.” Those who preach, eat, listen to and dwell near or on this mountain have a fear based theology. It is a Matthew 24 moment everytime something happens in the world.

The funny thing about Mount Sinai mountain dwellers and tellers is that they do not believe their own rhetoric. If they really believed Matthew 24 was the final blueprint, would they not be fearless in the midst of shaking? One would think, but actually they are fearful because they dwell on Mount Sinai, and so they speak fear for that is what they hear from this mountain. But there is another mountain. It is called Mount Zion. Hebrews 12 speaks of Mount Zion this way, “You have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.” This my friends is the mountain we are to dwell on, eat from, speak about. It is not a mountain that tells and dwells in fear, but one that tells and dwells in Christ, the living God, the hope of a future and the desire of nations.

We are fast approaching a shaking of the likes that is going to cause many to reveal the mountain they are dwelling on. Mount Sinai people are going to panic and speak fear, rapture, the end is here language, but Mount Zion people are going to stand in the storm, knowing Jesus Christ is Lord of all the mountains of society, all the economies of earth, all the systems. They know the shaking is breaking the Babylonian system and establishing righteousness over the nations. Mount Zion dwellers know the kingdom they are in cannot be shaken, so though the boat rocks, they will not fear for they know the Kingdom is here. It’s not to late to switch mountains to dwell on.
