Do you ever see something in the word of God and go, I never saw that before? I call them aha moments. It’s when we go aha to something God says and we finally get it. I hope I never stop having aha moments, because there is so much to learn about the word and kingdom of God. It is truly a living book, that speaks.
I was praying Psalm 32 this morning and I had an aha moment. Here is what I read, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding, Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check, Otherwise they will not come near to you.” I have not been around horses a lot, but I have friends who are avid horse people. This morning in prayer the Lord said, “I will instruct you; I will teach you; and I will counsel you in the way you should go.” God is our instructor, teacher and counselor. That is powerful. Did you know other religions do not have a living God they pray to, which means their gods do not respond to them with a voice, with words, with life? We are blessed to have Yahweh as our God, a living God, resurrected Savior, I am in awe.
Back to Psalm 32, so God instructs, teaches and counsels us in the way we should go, but then He says, “Do not be as a the horse or mule.” I wonder what animal we really are in the spirit, not what one we want to be. Everyone wants to be a lion, eagle or peacock, but what if some of us are these horses or mules that the Lord says, “Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check.”
My friends, God is your instructor, teacher and counselor, don’t ignore Him, don’t disobey Him, don’t try to do your own thing apart from Him, for He has so much life, love, joy, peace and righteousness for you, He will put trappings on you just to get you into the blessings He has for you. Only a living, loving God would put hold us in check just to bring us near to Him so He can bless us. What a might God we serve.
