I was praying with Psalm 102 this morning and the Lord began to speak to me that we have entered a time of building and appearing. When you look around in the natural there does not seem to be any evidence of this, but God always speaks about what is on His agenda not what is in our reality. He said, we have entered a time of building and appearing.
In the days of Israel, they gathered together to build a temple made of stone and when it was completed the Lord appeared in the temple and all inside saw and declared the glory of God. Today, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, God is no longer building a stone temple, but a body of people. Is it any wonder we are called to be edifiers (builders) of the body? The body of Christ is built up with words not with brick and mortar. This is what God is building in this hour, He is building and has been building people so He can appear in glory in His body.
The building up of people for the appearing of the glory of God is not just for the people being built up, but just like the physical temple in Israel, the body of Christ is being built up so generations can see and know the glory of God. What God is building and what we are called to build is a permanent body that cannot be destroyed by an invading nation, for we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The body He is building is also for the generations.
Psalm 102 says, “You will arise and have compassion on Zion; For it is time to be gracious to her, For the appointed time has come. For the LORD has built up Zion; He has appeared in His glory. He has regarded the prayer of the destitute And has not despised their prayer. This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.”
God is building us up as a generational body that reveals His glory for generations to come. The time has come, the building has been going on and will continue, for the glory is appearing and will appear for generations. We are the body of Christ, the temple God is building and will appear in!
