For the past three to four weeks the Lord has been developing my ability to smell in the spirit. I know that sounds strange to some and others know exactly what I am talking about.
I have a strong sense of hearing. Hearing the voice of God is my strong ear gift. I have learned over time how to see God in symbols, signs, and patterns. Seeing has developed over time and now I know what to look for. But this smelling things was new to me.
It started about a month ago while I was walking the dog in the morning. We would walk past a house and I would get a very distinct smell. The first smell I received was cigarette smoke. I stopped and looked at the house, to make sure no one was smoking on the front porch or in a car nearby, but no sign to attach to the smell.
The next time I was walking I went by another house and smelled sawdust; another house was laundry detergent smell; and one day I walked outside and the smell of skunk was obvious.
I did not think much of it, but I wrote it down in my journal and kept moving on through my days, for I did not understand what was happening to me. Then on September 30, 2026, I could smell rain. Now here in Nashville we had been in a heat dome for weeks and on record Nashville got no rain at all in the month of September.
I told my friend at bible study yesterday, I smell rain! So I looked up what this phrase means. “I smell rain means you are picking up the scent of approaching or just starting rain before (or as) it falls.” Friends, I smell rain, not just a few drops or showers, I smell an abundance of rain coming.
To confirm this smell, Kay Nash put out her prophetic word for October and I watched it this morning and the first thing she said was, “The rain is coming!” So, I am sharing with you what I am smelling. I smell rain. Www.apostolicresourcecenter.org
