Responsibility is Freedom

As long as you blame you’ll never take responsibility.
If you don’t take responsibility, you’ll never change.
When you blame you remain the same.

Jesus came to a self-righteous religious system who always blamed the people for not obeying all their laws, rules and requirements. Therefore, whenever Jesus spoke with those religious leaders He addresses who they were, despite them wanting Him to address who the people were. Jesus wouldn’t let them blame or shame the people, for He knew that wouldn’t change them.

In Matthew 9 the Pharisees saw Jesus eating with tax collectors and sinners, so they inquired why Jesus was doing this. Jesus said two profoundly simple statements He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Selah.

Go and learn what this means…Jesus is the great physician, if you don’t think you’re sick, you have no need of Him and if you’re self-righteous you will expect sacrifices from the people rather than extending compassion to the people. Remember it was said of Jesus in Matthew 9:36 “Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.”

When we take responsibility and stop blaming, we realize we are more sick than we thought and that revelation brings healing to us from Jesus. Then healed people have compassion on others they don’t demand a sacrifice because sick people need to be healed by the Great Physician just like we did.
