The Path

Have you ever been walking in the woods and you started on a path, but lost it and then had to try and find it again? Do you remember that feeling of slight panic, like oh my goodness, I am not sure where I am going? It is not fun to get lost in the woods, but if you relocate the path, the adventure of being on a path in the woods is quite fun. As long as you stay on the path, you can enjoy the scenery, experience the sounds of creation, and the smells of the trees and flowers.

Life is a lot like walking through the forest, there is a path through every season of our soul personally, communally and nationally, but if we lose sight of the path it can be nerve wracking. If we panic when we lose our path or can’t see our path, we do things out of panic and it takes us even more off course. The nations are going through some challenges right now and many cannot see the path. The media is saying the path is this way, our feelings are saying the path is that way, culture is saying no the path is over here, but there is another voice speaking, showing us the path.

Isaiah 55:9, 11 says, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts. …My word which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” The path of the Lord is higher than the path of the earth, it has charted a course for us to follow, but so often like Israel of old, “We are being led astray in our hearts. And we do not have experiential knowledge of God’s paths” (Hebrews 3:10).

The Lord is inviting us to lift up our eyes to the hills for that is where our help comes from (Psalm 121). There are a lot of trees in this forest, there are a lot of voices clamoring for our attention, it can cause us to be double minded, unstable and even nervous, for we do not seem to see the path through this. But remember, “You will hear a voice behind you saying, this is the way. Follow it, whether it turns to the right or to the left” (Isaiah 30:21). My friends, you can hear the voice of God, so there is nothing to fear, all you have to do is follow Him and His voice! He will lead you out of what He lead you into. The best is yet to come!
