Sounds of salvation are heard in the wells of revival; sounds of revival are heard in the cries of a people; sounds of a people are heard in the groaning of the earth; sounds of the earth’s groaning reveal the cadence of the King in our land. Being able to hear the sounds is vital for hope to be a beacon of light in the darkness, of joy in the sorrow and of peace in the midst of war. The sound of God is evident if you know what to listen for. Can you hear the sound of God in our land?  

In Isaiah the Lord spoke to the prophet with an indictment against the people, saying, “They have eyes but cannot see, ears but cannot hear, and hearts but cannot understand, or they would turn and I would heal them” (Isaiah 6). God has given us every resource we need to return to Him no matter how far we have turned away. But it takes our blind eyes to be opened, our deaf ears to hear and our hard hearts to be softened. Is it any wonder, these are the miracles Jesus performed when He was on earth? Is it any wonder this was His mission statement as noted in Luke 4, that He would preach, proclaim, set free and release recovery of sight? Jesus was a restorer of sight and sound to His people.  

As I was in prayer this morning with Psalm 85 the Lord opened up a sight and sound experience for me in the spirit, whether it is near or far from now, I am not sure, but it is coming, this I know. What I saw was horses with riders on them and the riders were carrying a banner as they rode across the land. They reminded me of circuit riders of old. They were crisscrossing the land with this banner and the sound of the horses’ hooves was heard for miles. There were thousands of these horses and riders, carrying the banner that was the gospel of the kingdom.  

Psalm 85 says, “O Lord, You showed favor to your land; you restored the captivity; you forgave the iniquity; You covered their sin. Selah.” The psalmist goes on to say, “Restore us, O God of our salvation; will You not Yourself revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? Show us Your lovingkindness, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation.” The richness of this Psalm is evident in the language used, and when I read these words, the vision opened up in living color. “Indeed, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its produce. Righteousness will go before Him and will make His footsteps into a way!” 

Righteousness was the word on the banners the riders were carrying, and the banners were leading the way across the land. As righteousness ran across the land the footsteps of God could be heard in the land. Footsteps in the Hebrew means a beat; a stroke; ranks; a cadence; the sound of God’s footsteps across the land are likened to the sound of horse’s hooves as they run across the land and it sounds like a cadence. The cadence then opened up a way in Hebrew a road, a journey, a direction, a manner, a habit, a course of life.  

As I put this sight and sound experience together, the Lord revealed to me that the footsteps of God are a cadence that follow the rhythm of righteousness and created a way in which to walk. The horses were creating the cadence as the riders carried the banner of righteousness across the land and the Lord was creating ways for the nation to walk in. The ambassadors of truth, carrying the banner of righteousness are going to be like circuit riders who ride across this land with the sights and sounds of God and will establish a way that people will walk in. This way will be definitive, it will be righteousness and it will be favor, restoration, and lovingkindness.  

Can you hear the sound of the footsteps of God creating a cadence of righteousness in our land that reveals the way we are going to go as a nation? It’s the sound of salvation and it’s heard in the hooves of the horses carrying the circuit riders who are holding the banner of righteousness all over our land. I can see them riding across the land, I can hear the sound of the horses’ hooves and I know righteousness is exalting our nation, just watch you will see it, you will hear it.
